Are you (or your kids) doing Codeyear?

Did you know about codeyear? The mayor of New York does, and is taking the course.  Not to be outdone, our intrepid project manager, Jon, is bravely navigating the shark-infested waters of codecademy, an online course for first-time programmers. He's learnt a bit of course, but the big benefit is that his respect for our team of developers has gone up! Jon is documenting his progress via a new blog on our website: codeyear blog.  Try it yourself, or get your children started, by following the link below:

Editing photos with Google+

From time to time customers ask us about photo editing software. We've recently added two articles to our blog on the subject: the first covers some of the more popular packages and their pros and cons:

The second is about a free tool which works in-browser: Google+:

Do check it out if you can; Google+ is also a worthwhile addition to your search engine optimisation strategy, as we explain here and here!

Are you still looking for a reliable backup system?

If you have an FTP site, and you're not afraid of a little command-line writing, then WinSCP might be the answer, as our blog post explains here:

Time For Children

We recently built and launched a website for 'Time For Children', a fostering agency specialising in placing siblings together with foster carers. The Time For Children website was designed by a staff member, and our content management system, Oxebiz, had no trouble with providing the means to edit various types of content and serve them up in the correct format.  Website link below.

Becky Hall from Time For Children commented:

"Oxford Web were fantastic to work with - very clear, calm and efficient. They developed our website with us in a really accessible way, and provided us with just the right levels of training and support. I thoroughly recommend them!"
